The History of Craft Beer

Global Beer Exchange LogoFrom the time men first dominated grains about 8,000 B.C., they might have brewed beer. Certainly, inhabitants in various parts of the world were brewing by 3,500 B.C.

Soon, it was the most popular alcoholic beverage in Mesopotamia. Beer idioms became part of the language and governments took on taxing beer consumption - a position it has enjoyed in most of the world ever since.

Native Americans made a corn beer long before Europeans found their way to America, bringing with them their own version of beer, although most of that was brewed at home during the 17th and 18th centuries. A fledging industry began to develop from 1612 when first known New World Brewery opened in New Amsterdam (now Manhattan).

Many refer to the phenomenon of beer flavor and diversity as "The growth of craft beer" or "The culture of craft beer". For beer drinkers, its simply a journey of pleasure. We live in a golden age of beer and currently it is a good time to be a beer drinker.
